Clean energies produce 60% of electricity in Spain

energías renovables

It is clear that clean energies are becoming increasingly important in the Spanish energy sector. Proof of this is that, during the month of February, production reached 13,152 GWh, which represents 59.55% of total energy sources.

These figures corroborate the unstoppable rise of renewable energies. Already in November last year, the market share of clean energies reached 59.56%, confirming the best forecasts. According to REE data, wind energy generated 31.2%, being the leading energy source for the fifth consecutive month. Production was 6,901 GWh, 47.6% more than in the same month of the previous year.

Thanks to the rainfall in recent weeks, hydroelectric power also increased its production. More specifically, by 31.6% compared to the same month last year, which had been very dry. This year, it generated 3,242 GWh, representing 14.7% of the total.

Photovoltaic energy increased its production compared to last year, generating 2,500 GWh, 11.3% of the total. On the other hand, emission-free production reached its best record in February, generating 81.4% of the total.

All this sums up the good outlook for the renewable energy sector in Spain. At Magallanes, we have been developing technology that facilitates the transition to more sustainable energy models for 15 years. In Spain, we are pioneers in developing this type of platform and, at a global level, one of the major benchmarks.
