Looking to develop an optimized design of next generation tidal turbine blades, this project promotes the asociation of international companies to lead worldwide innovation.

Funded by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) of the Xunta de Galicia and the European Union under the VInnovate Galicia call, this project connects welsh and galician companies in an innovative mission to design next generation tidal turbine blades for the ATIR 2.0.

• Progress has been made in the design of larger blades for the Morlais wind farm (North Wales).

• The design basis for the blades, designated Blades 3.0, has been finalized.

• The first numerical simulations of performance, loads, and fluid dynamics have been carried out, meeting the established objectives.

• The manufacturing materials for the new blades have been analyzed, examining in detail the operational limits and the problems encountered during the design process.
