Magallanes Renovables secures funding from Fast Track to Innovation Pilot for the testing phase

Magallanes Renovables has been successful in securing a Fast Track to Innovation Pilot grant, with which the necessary resources for undertaking the approval tests for its platform are guaranteed.

Funds have been ensured for Magallanes Renovables in order to carry out the relevant tests of its tidal floating platform. Based on Magallanes Renovable’s planning, it is expected that tests would begin in Vigo in February 2017; afterwards, the platform would be moved to the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), in Orkney, Scotland, where it will be tested in real conditions throughout one year. Those tests will prove the platform’s capability for producing electricity within the pre-established cost ranges and they will make it possible to turn the energy from tidal currents into the energy of the future.
